Bulletin

Submit an item for our weekly bulletin by emailing a brief paragraph to bulletin@dcminyan.org.

Community Relations and Special Events

Email our Community Relations (info@dcminyan.org) or Special Events (specialevents@dcminyan.org) coordinators to volunteer to pitch in.

Getting Acquainted with the Service

The structure and choreography of services can seem daunting but truly need not be. If you are looking for an explanation of what goes on during services and why, please email the Gabbai Commitee at gabbai@dcminyan.org.

Greeters

Serving as a greeter is a great and easy opportunity to help with DC Minyan hospitality and welcome people to our community. Greeters will be present after Shabbat services and other events to meet new people and introduce them to DC Minyan. Being a greeter is very flexible; you can volunteer every week, every so often, or on a single Shabbat. This is a great way for people interested in short term DC Minyan volunteer opportunities to get involved. If you are interested in being a greeter, please email hospitality@dcminyan.org

Hospitality

Invite someone new to lunch or dinner.  Do that on the spot one day at services or by coordinating through our Hospitality committee, hospitality@dcminyan.org. Or, if you would like to be matched up for a meal, email hospitality@dcminyan.org.

Kiddush

Sponsor Kiddush by emailing kiddush@dcminyan.org in advance.  Or just volunteer to help set up Kiddush or an Oneg one day during services.

Lead Services, Read Torah, or Speak

Every facet of the DC Minyan is lay-led, from the opening of services through Adon Olam. We therefore depend upon you all to come forward and share your voices and learning with the Minyan. The more voices that are heard from our Bimah (platform), the more rich and vibrant the Minyan will become. And by virtue of the time and thought invested in preparation, leading services tends to be an intensely rewarding experience.

Please email us if you would like to help lead services by doing one of the following:

If you would like to learn how to do any of these things or simply brush up on your skills, we would be glad to pair you up with a tutor. Please email gabbai@dcminyan.org explaining what you would like to learn, and what your current level of background is.

Also, the Resources section of our site may help you in preparing to lead services or speak at DC Minyan.  For guidance and audio files on leading services, visit Leading Service.  For guidelines and guidance on writing and delivering a Dvar Torah or Dvar Tefillah, visit the collections of resources on giving a Dvar Torah or Dvar Tefillah.
