Vaccination Policy
Vaccination Policy
We are halachically obligated to actively remove danger and to safeguard life. Getting vaccinated is vital to protecting the health of the community and the public — and, most specifically, the most vulnerable members of the community: those who are too young to be vaccinated, the elderly, and/or have compromised immune systems.
DC Minyan requires the same vaccines required by DC Public Schools — including COVID-19 — ollowing age-appropriate guidelines and allowing for exemptions only due to age, illness, or other medical conditions. Religious exemptions will not be accepted. 2019 saw a measles outbreak in several Jewish communities in the United States — in New York, New Jersey, Detroit, and — closest to home — Baltimore. The outbreak of this preventable illness has been traced back to individuals who chose not to vaccinate. Any child or adult who has not been vaccinated is not permitted to attend DC Minyan services or any events sponsored by DC Minyan.
This policy was written with input from both halachic and medical experts. If you have any questions about the policy, please reach out to the Steering Committee at sc@dcminyan.org.
